ELIGIBILITY
Any high school student in the Chicagoland area is eligible to participate.

PRIZE
First prize is $400 and the second prize is $150. Winners will be recognized on social media and on March 31st.

ENTRY
Write a “news article” about an aspect of the pay disparity among workers in America. The article should cite at least one statistic, reference a law or proposed law and include a quote. The student reporter can quote family, teachers or community members about their personal experiences with pay discrimination. Entries should be between 450 and 750 words. All entries must be submitted via email to
info@equalpaydaychi.org before Friday, March 6, 2020.

​Entries should be submitted as a PDF. At the end of the entry and on a separate page, please list the following information:
  • Student’s name, age, grade and contact information (both phone and email)
  • School, sponsoring teacher’s name and contact information (both phone and email)
  • Parent/guardian’s name and contact information (both phone and email)

The winner must be available to read a portion of their article on stage during the Equal Pay Day event in Daley Plaza (Clark and Washington in the Loop) on March 31, 2020 between noon and 1p.m. Entry grants Equal Pay Day Chicago the right to edit, publish, copy or display the entry, with attribution.
